What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it — under Taiwan's PDPA.

Controller

The controller for personal data on this site is Kinetic Beacon Research Co., Ltd., Taipei, Taiwan.

This page is framed under Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), which governs the collection, processing, and use of personal data by private entities in Taiwan. Where any statement here appears to conflict with the PDPA, the PDPA prevails.

What we collect and why

We collect a small amount of personal data only when you choose to give it to us, and only for the purposes listed here.

Inquiry form. When you submit the contact form, we collect the fields you fill in: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the topic you select, the text of your message, the consent checkbox state, a timestamp, and the page URL you sent the message from. The purpose is to read and reply to your inquiry. The legal basis is the necessity of taking the steps you have requested before entering into a correspondence with us (a pre-contractual necessity under the PDPA), together with our legitimate interest in responding to people who write to us.

Consent preference. When you accept or reject the consent banner, a single preference value is written to your own browser’s local storage under the key kinetic-beacon-research-consent. The purpose is to remember your choice so the banner does not reappear. The legal basis is your consent, given or refused through the banner itself.

What we do not collect. This site runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party tracking, and no cookies set by us or by any third party. We do not profile visitors, build audiences, or share data with advertising platforms. Server access logs, if any are kept by the hosting provider, are limited to operational use and are not used to identify individuals across sessions.

Where the data goes

Inquiry messages are sent by a POST request to a form handler on this same domain (/api/inquiry). The handler is operated by Kinetic Beacon Research and is used only to deliver your message to us and to reply. Your message is not passed to any advertising, analytics, or social-media service. The consent preference never leaves your browser; it is not transmitted to our server at all.

Retention

Inquiry messages and any reply correspondence are kept for as long as is necessary to respond, and for a short period afterwards so that we can answer follow-up questions. You may ask us to delete your inquiry earlier (see Your rights below). The consent preference is stored only in your own browser and is removed when you clear your browser’s local storage for this site.

Your rights

Under the PDPA you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of data that is inaccurate.
  • Request erasure of your inquiry data when retention is no longer necessary.
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent (withdrawing consent does not affect processing that has already happened).
  • Lodge a complaint with the competent authority in Taiwan if you believe your data has been mishandled.

International transfer

Because the site is hosted on infrastructure that may route data through servers outside Taiwan, your inquiry message may be processed outside Taiwan. We limit this to providers used for the sole purpose of receiving and replying to your inquiry, and we do not transfer data to any advertising or analytics recipient.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone we know to be under the age of majority in Taiwan. If you believe a minor has sent us an inquiry, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this page

We may update this page to reflect changes in our practices or in the PDPA. The date of the most recent revision appears below. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
